Around the League: Claremont whitewash Newstead B to extend lead at the top

Anfield pub Claremont have maintained their lead at the top of the Liverpool Open Darts League with a thumping 9-0 victory over the league’s bottom side Newstead B.

The league’s second placed side Gateway kept up the pressure to keep their hopes of retaining the title alive with a big victory as they won 6-3 against the league’s fourth placed side Peg Legs.

Newstead A also consolidated third position with a victory over one of the competitors for the top four, Oak Tree.

Stockbridge Village pub Village Inn also consolidated their sixth position with a 6-3 victory in Vauxhall against the  struggling Glasshouse.

Kensington pub the Liver Vaults then lost more ground on the chasing pack after they fell to a surprise 6-3 defeat at home to Bootle pub O.D.V.A. Anfield pub The Arkles also lost ground on the other chasers after falling to a 6-3 defeat at home to Ship and Mitre A.

And finally, Melbourne lost their local derby at Old Swan pub Masons 6-3, a much-needed win for the Masons outfit, as they put a bit of a gap between themselves and the rest of the bottom of the league.
