Last years champions Gateway have closed the gap to Claremont at the top of the Liverpool Open Darts League to four points after winning both their games this week against Queen of Martyrs 6-3 and 5-4. They played twice after their meeting in September was cancelled.
Those results now mean Newstead A, who still have a game in hand to come against their pub rivals Newstead B, cannot catch them, despite recording a 5-4 victory at Peg Legs- their closest rivals for third place.
Huyton pub Oak Tree carried on their rise up the table with an impressive 8-1 victory at home to Old Swan pub Masons.
They are now four points ahead of Liver Vaults after they fell to a 5-4 defeat in Sotckbridge Village against Village Inn- who are now level on points with Mondays opponents.
Anfield pub Arkles missed the chance to go above Queen of Martyrs after their double defeat, with a 5-4 defeat at home to Melbourne.
Ship and Mitre A now face being dragged back down towards the bottom of the table following a 6-3 defeat at home to one of the pubs down there; Bootle pub, O.D.V.A.
And Vauxhall pub The Glasshouse picked up a much needed victory against the leagues bottom side, Newstead B.
