Around the League: 13/1/17

The title race in the Liverpool Open Darts League is becoming a two horse race after the Claremont beat one of their closest challengers Newstead A 7-2. The Smithdown road pub are now eight points behind the Claremont after that defeat.

Last years champions the Gateway also won to further compound Newstead A’s  after a close 5-4 victory against second bottom side, The Glasshouse.

The 4th placed Peg Legs have moved just two points 3rd placed Newstead A after a close victory of their own, as they edged out the Melbourne 5-4 at home.

The Oak Tree kept up the pressure on the top four with a thumping 8-1 victory at Anfield pub and one of their rivals for the top positions, the Arkles.

Queen of Martrys rise up the table continued with another close game, another 5-4 victory at home to Old Swan pub the Masons.

Stockbridge Village pub The Village Inn have allowed the rest of the chasing pack to catch up with them following their surprise 5-4 defeat at home to Bootle pub O.D.V.A. This defeat lifts the Bootle pub further clear of the bottom of the table.

Lastly, Ship and Mitre A picked up a much needed win as they came through another tiebreaker at the leagues bottom side Newstead B.
