Ship and Mitre B face tricky trip to Gateway

Ship and Mitre B will be looking to stop an eight game losing streak in the league as they travel to the Gateway Hotel in Bootle for their latest clash in the Liverpool Open Darts League.

Gateway are second in the league having played a game less and currently seat four points off Claremont at the top.

Mitre, meanwhile, lie second from bottom in the league after going on a run of eight straight defeats. They haven’t won since 22nd August when they won at Liver Vaults.

Gateway come into the game after a huge 7-2 victory at Anfield pub The Arkles.

It is the second of two big fixtures for Mitre having fallen 6-3 at home to title contenders Newstead A.

Captain Peter Mylchreest said in his captain’s corner this week that he was looking forward to the game, saying “you only improve your game by playing good teams. Gateway only joined the league last season and we lost 5-4 at home after being 4-2 up and away they gave us a right good going over.”

There will be a break in the league after this week’s fixtures with fixtures in the pairs tournament and the Tony Donaghue Memorial Trophy.  Therefore both teams will want a good result to go into the break with.
